rabbit princess

once upon a time there was a rabbit princess. she had a lot of marriage offers but her father the king wouldn't let just anyone become his son-in-law. he then proclaimed that there would be a contest to choose his daughter's suitor.
on the day of the contest, rabbits from all over the kingdom came to try his luck.
the king unveiled the manner of his contest. "whomever manages to drink till the end from this cup; will be the princess's husband," he said, holding up a metal cup.
the crowds oohed and aahed. some rabbits scoffed. the king's terms sounded easy.
the bravest rabbit stepped out. "hand me the cup!" he demanded. immediately he took a swig. he jumped miles into the air! "ow!" he yelled. he dropped the cup like a hot potato. everyone now knew; the cup held boiling hot water.
the crowds grew excited. they can't wait to see who wins the contest!
one by one the rabbits lined up to try to drink the boiling water; the bravest, the strongest, the biggest, even the wannabes. every single one of them failed.
the king was about to give up when suddenly a small rabbit ran up to him. "let me try!" he said. the crowds tittered. they were convinced that he would fail too! (since he doesn't look at all strong or brave).
"it's hot," he said, holding the cup. "sire, i brought my family with me. may they feel how hot the cup is too?"
the king felt that there was no harm in allowing this wish, so he granted it.
behind the small rabbit a long line of his families and relatives had formed. they passed the cup from one hand to another, each one agreeing and calling out, "it's hot! careful now!"
by the time the cup reached the small rabbit again, all heat has dissipated and the small rabbit was able to finish drinking the water in the metal cup.
hence he was declared the winner. he married the rabbit princess, the king was very pleased, and they lived happily ever after.

the end. (source:encyclopedia)
